We are currently in Florianopolis, Brazil. Though, I must admit, we have been here since Thursday. We have just been a little blog-lazy, picture-lazy, pretty much just lazy. We are on Isla Santa Catarina on the eastern most part of Brazil. We are staying at a little "pousada" which is basically like a Brazillian version of a bed-and-breakfast. It's approoximately 35 steps from the beach, there is a pool and we have our own little condo with a kitchen and everything.
Basically, we actually feel like we are on vacation. So we got lazy and have been at the beach or the pool everyday this week and really have nothing else to say for ourselves. We take a walk on the beach mostly every night and go next door for a fantastic Brazillian idea: a serve yourself ice cream buffet. You scoop what you want and add pretty much any topping under the sun from fruit to sauce to candy to marshmellow fluff.
The owners live half of the year in San Diego and half here running the pousada and we are loving speaking some english with them. When we first arrived the internet didn't work and so Matt and Mario (the owner) spent all day fixing it. Mario has taken a liking to Matt and now that he knows Matt knows about computers, at least once a day he yells through our window asking for Matt to come help him figure out something else. At one point he was desperate to find something he lost on the desktop and when Matt did he promised us two nights free. Unfortunately, we paid for all of our nights in advance so we shall see if Matt can swing getting some money back.
Mario has also given us "The Secret" and "The Law of Attraction" to read, he is a big believer in the power of positive thinking and swears these books will change our lives. He also has an electromagnetic gun type thing that apparently heals any ailment that he is insisting we use on Matt's back three times a day. Interesting people we are meeting, for sure.
We're here and enjoying a little R & R before we head out on Friday to meet up with our good pal Whitney Smith for a week of giant steaks and even bigger waterfalls in Argentina.
