Dolphins Don't Eat Potato Chips

Last night it was pouring down rain. Literally. Maybe the hardest rain we have ever seen or felt. Much like the rain that might come at the end of the world. But when you are on an island and have no way to get off of it, you just climb in bed and call it a night. So that's what we did.

This morning we woke up and had some more pancakes. It's free, and in this life, that's something. We booked a mini-excursion for the day because there are so many islands here it would take forever to see more of them on our own. So we met the group at 9:30 and got on a boat with about 10 other people. First we went to Dolphin Bay for a little dolphin watching. We didn't see any for the first 1o or so minutes, so Mr. Old Man's much younger lady friend, (let's call her Pilar) decided that it must be that the dolphins were hungry. So genius Pilar started throwing bits of her spicy Doritos into the bay to entice those little dolphins to the boat. Then, when, strangley, they didn't want any of her spicy Doritos, she moved on to the plain Lay's. I mean, maybe these Panamain dolphins are just sort of vanilla and the spicy gives them an upset stomach? I was annoyed. She was stupid. The day seemed long. We did end up seeing a couple dolphins, but not until she started throwing in the chocolate bar.

After the dolphins, we went to Swan's Cay where we got to go snorkeling. There was a ton of corals and other friends of Nemo. After we snorkeled for a while we stopped at a fancy island place to have lunch. Many people ate at the restaurant while we had our delicious tomato and cheese sandwiches: (four slices of cheese: 50 cents, two bakery rolls: 20 cents, one tomato: 40 cents). Our recent lunch obsession. Along with my favorite new treat, I call it pineapple in a bag. Because it's a pineapple in a bag and I can't find anything wrong with that. At the place we stopped for lunch, they had a little parrot-farm with about 12 different parrots squaking up a storm and munching on their coconut lunch. Who knew, these Panamain parrots loved them some coconut.

After lunch we went to Red Frog Beach, where we hiked about 10 minutes through the jungle to get to the beach. Apparently, the jungle is supposed to have tiny, red poisionous frogs in abundance. We wouldn't have seen any, lest a seven year-old entrepreneur. He is making a killing catching a red frog, holding it on a leaf and letting toursits see it. For money. Matt took some pictures which we will post shortly to prove it. But he definitely chased us yelling "money" until I gave him a dollar for the photos. Red Frog Beach itself was gorgeous. Huge waves, crystal clear water and white sand. This was definitely the highlight of the trip. We went on one last snokel excursion and then headed home about five o'clock.

Tomorrow, it's time to move on again, and I can't tell you where until we decide, though it's safe to say we shall remain in this fair country of Panama. We hope you all have fun at work tomorrow.
